Warner Bros. and HBO Max create Warner Max for exclusive Streaming films (Including maybe DC)

As Warner Bros. prepares to be the next upcoming contender in the Streaming Wars, the focus is on content. They’ve nabbed beloved classics like Friends, South Park, and Sesame street for the service. They also have the Warner Bros. and HBO back catalog and classic films. Yet, as the success of The Mandalorian and baby Yoda fever proves, the real money is in originals. They have a slate of original series and films already scheduled for launch. Yet, a new report says that Warner Bros. created Warner Max, a film production company exclusively for HBO Max. (They are really sticking with this “Max” branding, huh?”

To be honest, this relocation isn’t all that surprising. Netflix and Disney+ are all-in on producing original films. Netflix threw their money behind marquee filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese. Disney+ looks to their big brands like star Wars, Marvel, and newly-purchased 20th Century Fox films to remake. So, what will Warner Bros. want Warner Max to focus on for HBO Max? There are certain to be plenty of original and grounded films. but Warner Max could dip into the DC universe and create films and series as marvel Studios and Netflix did with their collaboration. Lower-tier characters, like Lobo who practically had a Krypton spin-off at SyFy, could appear in films they wouldn’t want to put out on the big-screen. They’ve already done it with Doom Patrol a critical darling from DC Universe.

As the crisis on unlimited Earths finale on the CW showed, they can do superheroes on a smaller budget. In fact, numerous DC fans will say that the Arrowverse is a better shared universe than the DC extended universe was, especially considering all the Snyder cut drama. Warner Max will be responsible for about eight or 10 mid-budget films (from $25 million to $75million budgets) per year. considering the first-ever billion-dollar R-rated film, Joker, had a $60 million budget, there is plenty storytellers can do for Warner Max. Also, these films will not interrupt or conflict with Warner Bros. or new Line films, because the top people at each company are involved.

As variety reports about the executive hierarchy:

“Warner Max will be supervised by HBO Max’s chief content officer Kevin Reilly and Warner Bros. pictures group chairman Toby Emmerich, who will share greenlight responsibilities. They will work in collaboration with Warner Bros. pictures COO Carolyn Blackwood and HBO Max executive Sarah Aubrey. Jessie Henderson, executive VP of original feature films for HBO Max, will expand her role to serve as day-to-day head of the label and liasion between HBO Max and Warner Bros. She will report to Aubrey and Blackwood.”

With up to a $75 million budget, filmmakers can certainly tell a cinematic and effects-heavy story without the sort of pressure comic book films typically face. The Mandalorian is made on a budget of about $15 million per episode and holds up against any of the films. While they might not be able to pull off Aquaman, maybe HBO Max can do green lantern justice?  There are plenty of “street-level” DC characters they could draw from.

In fact, a dedicated DC division in Warner Max might even be able to do what marvel television did with The Defenders or even what Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim did for the Arrowverse. They can introduce a few standalone films and then have a team-up. They could possibly do Justice League: Dark, not worrying about MPAA rating. The possibilities are unlimited as the deep roster of DC characters.

What do you think? will Warner Bros. and HBO Max use Warner Max to develop DC properties that may not have large box office draw? ought to they even try? tell us in the comments!

BEAUOLOGY 101: COMIC BOOKS: DAYS OF FUTURE past

The success of future new superhero motion pictures (Ant-Man) will hinge totally on the capability of the motion picture studios, not the publisher, to make the character likeable as they did with Iron Man, mark Ruffalo/Hulk as well as Captain America.

Dark equine Comics, BOOM! Studios, IDW publishing as well as other non-DC Comics/Marvel Comics publishers have the prospective to produce a mainstream superhero line of comic books that might someday rival that of marvel as well as DC. Yes, some have tried before, however the market is extremely different now than it was in the 90s as well as the beginning of the century, both in the method visitors accept characters as well as exactly how innovation has layered the method we take in comic books. To do this they cannot technique it as it has been done before. It will requirement a strong, innovative hand that is there to make the complex basic as well as the basic compelling. It starts with the characters, not the marketing.

Comic book original art is, as well as will be, the safest as well as a lot of useful investment you can make collecting comic book associated material. original art is one of a kind, no matter if it’s a cover or a speaking heads page without the primary characters; it’s one of a kind! In the 1980s I gotten lots of marvel as well as DC superhero pages for less than $10.00 each. The dealerships sometimes just about provided them to me since they didn’t have a “hot” artists or the stories seemed “corny.” Their loss. even then I understood that a person day they would be older as well as there would be fewer of these pages to be had. I still have a few of these pages, however others I have offered as well as I’m not ashamed to tell you that I made numerous dollars from them as well as beyond. These days, fewer as well as fewer artists are doing art on paper; they are going digital as well as that indicates that the a lot more you discover on paper, the better, however now is the time to seek them out. Sketches are fine, however original art from published comics have time, sweat, as well as stories. It’s a part of that artist’s life that he took to sit there as well as draw. This adds so much a lot more emotional value to the work as well as something you can pass down to your household or good friends and, as you do, provide them that story so the spirit of that art will online on with the physical pencil as well as ink on the paper.

Comic books are not going to go away, however the method they are read, sold, as well as marketed is going to modification radically from the method they are done today. innovation will play a major part in this, however so will the mindset of the readers. There will be a smaller, a lot more personal method to produce as well as distribute comic books as well as there will be a massive, a lot more worldwide method of comic book characters reaching readers. The part that will vanish will be the middle ground. keeping that will bring the loss of neighborhood that comic books have understood considering that the Silver Age when visitors ended up being fans as well as fans ended up being creators. Comics, like books, will when once again ended up being an audience of visitors as well as less of fans. the very best example of this that I can provide you is San Diego Comic Con. Comics will be completely inhaled by pop culture as well as mixed into the machine. It will no longer be a friendly mommy as well as pop thing, it’ll be a world devoured by Galactus with a few Silver Surfers crying about what utilized to be, however will never return. Not everybody who reads comics will want to produce comics, as the majority of present comic book creators ages 60 to 35 are today. things are altering as well as altering fast. It’s not gloom as well as doom, it’s reality. Comic books will be no location for the weary.

Henry Cavill Disinterested in the Snyder Cut, wants to think about the Future of Superman

The Internet is all a-flutter, because Zach Snyder confirmed that he has some cut of Justice league ready to go. Yet, the key figure in the director’s takeover of DC doesn’t seem all that interested in the movie. Henry Cavill neither saw nor cares much about the Snyder Cut, instead he is interested in the future of Superman. man of Steel was Zack Snyder’s first DC movie and led to his oversight of the DC extended Universe. despite reprising the role twice for other films, Cavill still wants to make a proper sequel to man of Steel. So much so, that he practically campaigned for the chance in a sit-down with an entertainment reporter while promoting The Witcher. check below for what he said specifically, and our take on what it might mean.

Henry Cavill Talks the Snyder cut and the Future of Superman

In the video above, Henry Cavill sits down with Kevin McCarthy to talk about the Snyder cut and the future of Superman. Well, truth be told, he was there to talk about The Witcher. but McCarthy is very good at getting celebrities to talk about other projects. (He’s the one that got Kevin Smith to finally reach out to Ben Affleck for Jay and silent Bob Reboot.) because the Snyder cut saw enough drama this week to fill the arc of a documentary, McCarthy asked Cavill his thoughts on it.

The Superman actor said if there is a Snyder Cut, he has not seen it. He also expressed little interest in revisiting or trying to rehabilitate Justice League.

He said:

“That is very much a chapter in my past. I would rather talk about what is going to happen in the future. The future of Superman, how I can express that character from the comic books, which ties in nicely to man of Steel. man of Steel, I really like that movie, and I’d like to be able to tell the story where it was left at that point.”

Cavill went on to say that he can tell us “nothing” about the possibility of him donning the iconic red and blue costume again. This is not the first time he mentioned this, either. Back in July, a fan who spoke with Henry Cavill said he still wants to play Superman. He spoke about wanting to play the character as the hopeful hero that he is in the comics. (Snyder’s man of Steel was very flawed and unfinished, but still a necessary take on the character.) earlier this month, in another interview, he talked about how he’s actively trying to make a new, solo Superman movie happen.

As he told Men’s Health:
“I’m not just going to sit quietly in the dark as all this stuff is going on… I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see.”

There are two remarkable things about Cavill’s candor. The first is that, unlike all of his co-stars, he’s not come out in full-throated support of Snyder and his vision. The second is that Cavill seems to want these comments of his to make headlines, knowing how hot the topic is right now. While only Cavill knows what’s in his heart, we have some ideas about why this is.

Why We think He’s saying This Stuff

image via Warner Bros.

Zack Snyder leaves no ambiguity that he’s upset at Warner Bros. He’s joked about “leaking” his version of the film before. It makes sense would he want to get his version of the film to fans Yet, his comments about his version of Justice league seem to carry animus towards Warner Bros. This makes sense. The official story is that Snyder stepped down from the movie because of a family tragedy. Yet, the rumor-mill long said that Warner Bros. used the tragic death of his daughter as an excuse to fire him. So, it also makes sense that he would carry a lot of resentment for the studio.

And the hard feelings may be mutual. At this point, it makes no business sense for Warner Bros. to not release the film, at least as an exclusive on HBO Max. Their new on-demand service will need exclusives as an upcoming contender in the Streaming Wars. Still, even if they release the film, Snyder likely would not work for the studio again.

Henry Cavill, however, wants a future as Superman. So, being like Switzerland when it comes to the Snyder cut is a smart call. It shows that he’s still team Warner Bros., at least if gets him back in the cape and tights. And, let’s not forget, that Cavill’s obligation to Mission: impossible helped “ruin” the reshoots for Justice League. He couldn’t shave his mustache, and thus it had to be digitally erased with hilariously poor CGI. He doesn’t want to make waves. Besides, he’s aware of the reports that Warner Bros. is considering recasting the role. Rumors suggested Michael B. Jordan met with the studio about playing Superman. And, many people say that it’s time for a black actor to take up the role of Superman.

Will We See Henry Cavill Take Up the Mantle of Superman Again?

image via Warner Bros.

Despite what other entertainment reporters will tell you, nothing is set in stone. If Tom Holland can save Spider-Man in the MCU, then Henry Cavill might be able to save his Superman. There is no question that of the three Zack Snyder DC films (not counting Watchmen), man of Steel is the most liked. Also, Warner Bros. seems keen to focus solely on solo films. So, a standalone Superman send-off with Henry Cavill in the role is not outside the realm of possibility. With Joker becoming the first R-rated movie to make a billion dollars, WB may want to keep things dark and gritty. It’s a formula that works for them in a way that hasn’t seemed to work for Marvel. (Outside of the original Blade films, that is.) But, DC can also do fun and hopeful films. Shazam! was a lighthearted superhero story, and any Superman sequel should have the same tone.

Of course, the business is the business. Warner Bros. may decide to just reboot the character again. They also likely could get a new actor for a much smaller rate than Cavill. When he first suited up as the man of Steel, he wasn’t that well-known. Now, ironically thanks to his turn as Superman, he’s an international movie star. Yet, as badly as Cavill wants the role, he might even be willing to make concession.

What do you think about Henry Cavill as the future of Superman and his remarks about the Snyder Cut? Share your thoughts, reactions, and who you want wearing the “S” in the comments below.

Spider-Man: into The Spider-Verse Sequel date Announced; Which Spider-Men will Appear?

The Oscar-winning animated function film Spider-Man: into The Spider-Verse announces its sequel date as being April 8, 2022. The critically acclaimed Spider-Man movie is lastly getting a sequel. While Sony is having to share their live-action Spider-Man with marvel Studios, their biggest success came with into The Spider-Verse.

Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse Shook the Multiverse

With Phil Lord as the writer, Spider-Man: into The Spider-Verse was an amazing handle the superhero that referenced, tributed as well as homaged almost all the different iterations of the character that came before it. In new as well as innovative ways.

The sequel date was officially verified as April 8, 2022. The statement came from a little teaser clip released on Twitter. The clip sees the Miles Morales version of the Spider-Man logo, with the movie’s trademark glitches distorting it.

The (Brief) Exhaustive history of Sony’s Spider-Man before into the Spider-Verse

The rights to Spider-Man, the marvel Comics character is with Sony Pictures. While marvel Comics have consolidated most of their characters into their own film production business in marvel Studios, Spider-Man stays elusive.

picture via Sony

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies marked an amazing age for the character with Tobey Maguire. The third movie derailed the franchise, however it  found one more life with Andrew Garfield as well as director Marc Webb. (The pun was, completely coincidental.) however even that fizzled out by the second film.

The marvel Studios & Sony photos Spider-Man Alliance!

But alas, a offer between Sony as well as marvel Studios saw the Tom Holland Spider-Man in the marvel Cinematic world that all of us understand as well as love. however even that marvel / Sony connection has been a bit rocky in recent times.

picture via marvel Studios

As Holland continues to be the live-action Spider-Man in the MCU, Sony still has all the rights to ancillary Spider-Man side characters, villains as well as the likes. That’s exactly how they were able to create the massively unforeseen blockbuster Venom. as well as likewise exactly how they’re planning the Jared Leto starring Morbius with a character who’s a living vampire. Not Blade.

How into the Spider-Verse Revitalized Spider-Man for Sony

Spider-Man: into The Spider-Verse was a massively unique as well as innovative movie. The story. The animation. The voice performances. All absolutely stunning as well as flawless. instead of trying to adapt one version type many Spider-Man source material for the big-screen, the makers decided to produce a story that homaged several iterations of the character that we’ve seen over the years. A brilliant idea.

picture via Sony

The hero was Miles Morales’s new Spider-Man character from the comics, who has a similar origin story to the Peter Parker Spider-Man, however in a different universe. utilizing the Multiverse, Spider-Verse saw different versions of the character come together to save several realities. It was brilliant.

Not to mention that the movie won awards, particularly the coveted Oscar for finest Animated function at the 2018 Academy Awards. Proving that Sony didn’t truly requirement marvel to ‘save’ Spider-Man.

Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse produced a new world Spin-Offs!

On top of being a critically as well as award-winning movie, into The Spider-Verse was an amazing business decision. The film sees two iterations of Peter Parker’s Spider-Man, voiced by Jake Johnson as well as Chris Pine. Not to mention many off-shoots of the character from different graphic novels like Spider-Man: Noir as well as goofy animated shorts like the Spider-Ham prequel short.

This has now enabled Sony to produce spin-off movies based on these characters. The very first bit of news went into around an all-female spin-off featuring Spider-Gwen (Hailee Stanfield) who was an alternating truth Spider woman in the movie. Not to mention many other into The Spider-Verse based live-action TV shows, obviously in the works as well.

Trying to Decode the into the Spider-Verse Sequel Logo

When the movie released, there were a great deal of speculations on which other versions of Spider-Man may be in the sequel. Phil Lord even teased a few possibilities. however it seems the biggest hint has come directly from the source itself. The teaser shows the Morales’ Spidey logo glitch as well as twitch into other color schemes as well as styles. Prompting eagle-eyed fans to see some similarities between the logo as well as that of existing versions of the Spider-Man.

The biggest hint seem to be Spider-Man 2099, who was already teased in the end credit histories of into The Spider-Verse. Oscar Isaac voiced Spider-Man 2099 or his change ego Miguel O’Hara. The other versions seem more out there, however definitely has fans excited for the sequel.

Robert Greenberger

by Robert Greenberger

In 1971, comic books were enabled to grow up. It was at that point the Comics Code Authority rewrote their guidelines since its inception in 1954, reflecting altering social mores as well as tastes. Unshackled, color comics might now deal with all way of subject matter previously prohibited as well as Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief Stan Lee, wasn’t going to squander a moment.

Tomb of Dracula #3

He wished to dive in beginning with a Dracula comic, bringing Bram Stoker’s vampire from prose to comics. Lee as well as Roy Thomas brainstormed the broad strokes of the series as well as Thomas began plotting around new Year’s Eve 1971 however turned it over to Gerry Conway who handed it off to Archie Goodwin who dumped it on legendary DC author Gardner Fox as well as when his work didn’t excitement Thomas, it went to Marv Wolfman. as well as then something wonderful happened.

Tomb of Dracula total Collection Vol. 1

Wolfman, with artist gene Colan, clicked as well as largely left alone, began providing the series a voice as well as tone unlike anything else from the home of Ideas. visitors noticed as well as sales increased ultimately making tomb of Dracula one of Marvel’s finest liked series of all time. Coming this autumn is tomb of Dracula total Collection including the very first fifteen problems of the monthly comic together with the very first four problems of the Dracula Lives! black as well as white magazine.

Thomas introduced visitors to Frank Drake, Dracula’s human descendant, together with the Lord of Vampires. Goodwin’s two-parter introduced Rachel Van Helsing while Fox set up the long-running romance between Frank as well as Rachel. When Wolfman settled in with problem #7, he as well as Colan introduced wheelchair-bound Quincy Harker, son of Stoker’s Jonathan as well as Mina Harker, as well as leading an worldwide search for the vampire as Abraham Van Helsing’s successor. This set the stage for all that followed.

Tomb of Dracula #7

Interestingly, Colan had to fight for the assignment after Lee at first guaranteed it to him as well as then forgot, assigning it to expense Everett. At his wife’s urging, Colan did a sample page that persuaded Lee to provide him the book. The next fight, to let Colan ink it, was a lost one, as he was as well valuable a penciller although he did ink the very first problem as a consolation prize.

His Dracula was influenced by actor Jack Palance, with Colan explaining to Jon B. Cooke, “Well, I had seen him do Jekyll as well as Hyde for television, as well as right there as well as then I understood that Jack Palance would do the perfect Dracula. He had that cadaverous look, a serpentine look on his face….”

Wolfman recounted at change Ego, “ToD was the book I discovered to compose on. At the time my composing wasn’t strong as well as my super-hero composing was, well, honestly awful. Although I’d been reading super-hero comics from day one, I just didn’t get exactly how to compose them. however I’d written secret stories for DC as well as Marvel, as well as I believe Roy must’ve felt it truly didn’t make a difference who composed the Dracula title since it would most likely be dead soon enough.

“I’ve stated this before as well as it’s true: when Roy asked me to compose tomb of Dracula, I didn’t like vampires. I’d never seen a vampire or Dracula movie, including the Bela Lugosi original. Still haven’t, by the way. I re-read the original Bram Stoker Dracula book as well as BAM! It was like nothing I had expected. I liked it. truly liked it.

Tomb of Dracula #10, the debut of Blade

“As I said, since he drew genuine people with genuine expressions, Gene’s art enabled me to compose stories about people. I believe that enabled me to tell extremely different type of stories from what were being done elsewhere. It definitely opened me as much as a whole new method of composing comics as well as the type of stories I might tell. I started to take a more novelistic approach to ToD than the common comic of the time.

“Perhaps. I was believing [in terms of] grand themes, smaller arcs, as well as telling character-driven stories. I really plotted the book, in writing, two years in advance, so I might tell those larger stories. when I began to establish the more nuanced approach to the humans in the book, it impacted exactly how I composed Dracula himself. Although almost all of the dialogue today makes me cringe, it is 40 years later as well as our approach to dialogue has greatly changed, however I believe the general stories still work.”

Dracula Lives! #1

By 1973, the title performed so well, Lee commissioned Dracula Lives! as a buddy magazine featuring a mix of Dracula tales, articles, as well as horror reprints from the 1950s.

While Wolfman as well as Colan spun their own contemporary tale of terror, the anthology might cover Dracula’s life with the centuries with an fascinating collection of writers as well as artists creating stories. Conway as well as Fox composed a few of the stories as Roy Thomas, Steve Gerber, as well as even Chris Claremont in an illustrated prose tale. Wolfman partnered with Neal Adams for a unforgettable origin story. artists contributing right here began with Colan however included Alan Weiss, Dick Giordano, rich Buckler, Pablo Marcos, Jim Starlin, Syd Shores, Alfonso Font, Vicente Alcazar, Mike Ploog, as well as Dick Ayers. painted covers came from Boris Vallejo, Jordi Penalva, Earl Norem, as well as Adams.

Tomb of Dracula #12

Wolfman admitted that it took a number of problems to discover his voice as well as direction, thinking about himself comfortable beginning with problem #12, the arc concluding this volume. just before that, though, he did introduce visitors to Blade the vampire hunter, one of the most prominent character introductions during that era.

Summing up the book’s legacy, Wolfman said, “…in the 1970s the readership was growing up. We were no longer having to compose comics only for the 8-to-12-year-old crowd. I was composing Dracula for a college audience as well as above, as was Roy with Conan or Steve Gerber with Howard the Duck. Gene’s realistic art, which wasn’t all about fists as well as flexing, definitely was much better appreciated as well as comprehended by an older as well as more discriminating reader. So I believe that tomb of Dracula was the right book with the right team at the right time taking the right approach.”

The Comic-Con At home Panel For Constantine 15th anniversary Proves film Was Labor Of love

In the early 2000s, the comic-book movie renaissance was still a few years away. enter Constantine, a movie produced by Akiva Goldsman, directed by Francis Lawrence, and starring Keanau Reeves. Ostensibly a horror-action film, the character Reeves played is based on John Constantine from Swamp thing and the Hellblazer comics. Upon its release, fans of comics didn’t know how to react. Constantine is a more defined character than some others, specifically in that he’s a British punk rocker who wears a white shirt, red tie, and tan trench coat who dabbles in the dark arts. This is not what Constantine gave fans, but the 15th anniversary panel from Comic-Con at home celebrates what it did give them. Goldsman, Reeves, and Lawrence all showed up to talk about this movie that they still clearly love.

I first watched this film while deployed to Iraq with the us Army. despite my affection for the comic book version of the character, I enjoyed it immensely. As always, my attitude is that I appreciate the attempt to adapt a comic book story into live-action. This wasn’t “my” John Constantine, but it was still a good movie about a John Constantine. Now, thanks to the Arrowverse, we’ve gotten a comics accurate Constantine from Matt Ryan on his canceled-too-soon series, in DC animated movies, and Legends of Tomorrow. Thus, many fans of the Hellblazer went back to this film with fresh eyes.

Over the past 15 years, fans began to see the film for what it is, rather than judging it for what it isn’t. The result is that we have a beautiful, frightening, and thrilling story about angels, demons, and sardonic sorcerer who gets the best of all of them.

The best parts of the Constantine 15th anniversary Panel from Comic-Con at Home

image via screengrab

Honestly, the best thing about this panel is that it gives the people more of what they love, specifically Keanu Reeves being a joy to watch. One some of these Comic-Con at home panels, you can tell some stars don’t really want to be there. However, Keanu is easily the most excited person in the chat, speaking passionately, jumping up and down, and tossing out details only someone who loved what he did would remember. Seriously, if you can, be as excited about what you do every day as Keanu is about Constantine.

During the conversation, the actor recounted with glee moments from the filming, remembering the names of crew members that even the director didn’t. even though this was a goofy comic book monster movie (how Warner Bros. saw it, at least), Keanu and the rest of them took it very seriously. Also, the image above shows the moment that Lawrence showed the camera “the holy Shotgun” from the movie, to which Keanu threw his hands up in delight.

Constantine IS a PG-13 Movie, but They ‘Got Screwed’ by the MPAA

image via Warner Bros.

One of the other defining things about the Constantine character in the comics is that he was part of the (now defunct) Vertigo imprint. Essentially, these were “rated-R” comic books with cursing, nudity, and other themes parents hate for kids to read about. Yet, due to a directive from Warner Bros., Lawrence was told to make the film a PG-13 film, because in 2005 R-rated movies didn’t make $1 billion. Yet, the film was rated R when it hit theaters.

Moderator Steven Weintraub asked if they tried to fight the rating. Goldsman and Lawrence said they did but noted that it was a lost cause. The former said that after about ten minutes of watching the film, the MPAA rated it a hard “R.” Lawrence followed a meticulous list for how to avoid an R-rating, involving violence, number of times they could say “f*ck,” and other suggestions. The MPAA however, gave it the R rating for “tone” and an “overwhelming sense of dread.”  Neither of those things were on the list, but honestly, they should have put that quote on the poster. Lawrence lamented this, saying that if they knew they were going to be rated R no matter what, he’d have really “went for it” in terms of what they offered fans.

What about a Sequel?

image via Warner Bros.

The filmmakers said that while there was some talk of a sequel, it came more from them than Warner Bros. Constantine was a success when it debuted, especially bolstered by DVD sales. However, because of the film’s cost and R-rating, Warner Bros. decided not to go forward with a new movie. The post-credits scene (not a common thing with comic book movies at the time) revealed that Shia LeBoeuf’s Chas had become an angel, something a sequel would have expanded upon.

Goldsman also briefly mentioned a pitch for a sequel story that involved Constantine waking up in a cell with a prisoner who, ultimately, would have [turned out to be] Jesus Christ. Goldsman also said that they wanted to make a sequel that leaned into the hard R rating, going over the top with violence, horror, and probably some old-fashioned naked fun. Yet, given that this film has aged well, a sequel may still be possible. (Rotten Tomatoes even apologized to the film for its low critical score.)  “I think we’d probably make it tomorrow,” Goldsman said. Yet, he said the film was “a feathered fish,” meaning it was so odd that the studio couldn’t see a future for it.

The Constantine 15th anniversary Panel from Comic-Con at home Is one of the most fun From the Event

image via Warner Bros.

The Comic-Con at home experiment has been strange, but the Constantine 15th anniversary panel is one of the best they’ve done. many of these panels suffer from the lack of audience or fan energy (which, I think, also impairs those on the panel who respond to it). Yet, the trio of folks involved in this panel love this movie so much that their exuberance bleeds through the video. (And a bleeding computer screen sounds like Constantine kind of problem, to be honest). Unlike many retrospective panels, which are for people already fans of the movie, this works as marketing for those who’ve not seen it.

At the time, some comics fans (including your humble correspondent) were disappointed that they changed the character so much. However, now that we’ve gotten a comics accurate Constantine (and another is likely on the way), we can better appreciate the Keanu Reeves version of the character. This film made a lot of big swings, looks incredible, and every supporting castmember delivered an awards-worthy performance.

Zack Snyder Releases Black and White Teaser For Justice League: Director’s cut and The Hype Returns

There looks to be no stopping Zack Snyder’s Justice league when it ultimately releases on HBO Max in 2021. From controversies to new footage to increased budgets, the Justice league hype keeps going and it’s no different today. Zack Snyder dropped the Justice league black and white trailer today, and also a regular colorized version with—get this— some new footage. but there’s a lot more to discuss here than just this trailer, as Snyder has been popping up with new info about Justice league for a couple of days now.

But Wait, Wasn’t There already A Justice league Trailer?

image via screen Grab.

Yes, intrepid reader, you would be absolutely correct in being a little confused, thinking we already got a Justice league Snyder cut trailer. The keenly awaited, completed version of Zack Snyder’s Justice league saw a completely repackaged trailer release during the DC FanDome event. However, the new one is a Justice league black and white trailer, featuring some very brief new shots and new footage. It’s unlikely if the new footage is what has been, or is being, shot as part of Snyder’s reshoots, or if it’s just old footage we hadn’t seen before.

The reason the new black and white trailer, along with the same updated previous trailer got re-released, is due to the trailer getting taken off of YouTube due to some issues with the music copyrights. The trailer has Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah playing over it, which caused some problems on YouTube. but the new trailer release also brings a new marketing campaign with the hashtag #UsUnited trending on social media. The trend refers to the last line of the trailer, where Batman (Ben Affleck) refers to how Darkseid has never fought them before. Not them, united.

New Justice league Black and White Trailer provides brief but significant new Footage

While trying to keep up to date with everything that’s said, heard about, reported, alleged, and seen in the Justice league Snyder cut can be exhausting, it’s still a little exciting to see new footage. The new trailer is the same one from FanDome, but with some new images of Darkseid, Hypolytta (Connie Neilson), and of Cyborg (Ray Fisher) as well. There’s also a brand new, very clear image of the revised Steppenwolf design from the Snyder Cut. It also seems like the movie is now, officially, Justice League: Director’s Cut.

Zack Snyder’s recent comments Are Revealing

image via screen Grab.

Along with dropping this new black and white trailer, Snyder’s been doing the rounds drumming up more teases for the new trailer, as well as its eventual release on HBO Max. but some of his comments are a little confusing, and feel hard to believe. For example on a recent appearance on beyond The Trailer, Snyder mentions how the additional reshoots for his Justice League, will only yield about 4 minutes of footage. 4 minutes of additional footage in a movie, now a 4-part mini-series, meant to be 4 hours along. It’s also rumored that those additional scenes include those shot with Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke and Jared Leto’s Joker.

When fitting this piece of the puzzle into the unconfirmed reports that budget for these reshoots climbed to $70 Million, it feels like an expensive 4 minutes. but it’s clear now that the word ‘reshoot’ for that additional footage is the wrong word, as it’s adding extra scenes for context, not reshooting scenes already shot. which makes sense now in hindsight. but I guess we won’t ever be truly able to judge any of this until we see the whole thing in its entirety.

We don’t understand a great deal about ‘the Artist’ at the moment, so we’re sure more details will are available in the next issue. However, what we do understand is quite dark – ‘the Artist’ is a serial killer! Naturally, then, the artist is hopeful that he can join with Carnage. You can expect that he’s expecting something similar to the connection Carnage had with Cletus Kasady.

Hydro-Man Returns in new Carnage Comic

Image: Marvel

Furthermore, if that wasn’t enough, Carnage caught one more famous deal with from the marvel series – Hydro-Man. If you don’t acknowledge him, then where have you been?! Hydro-Man has been Spider-Man’s opponent for a long time now. From the preview, we can assumption that Carnage is attempting to produce a connection with Hydro-Man, too.

As part of this connection, Carnage really hopes to take Hydro-Man’s capability to manipulate water as well as utilize it for himself. In this preview of the newest Carnage comic, the titular character says, “In taking a trophy, I as well am transformed.”

Feeling Sorry for Shayde

Image: Marvel

The conversation is quickly cut short by Jon Shayde’s arrival. Shayde has been investigating the artist as well as his recent spate of murders. He tries to take manage of the situation, however Carnage has other ideas. unfortunately for Shayde, none of these concepts are good. Hydro-Man bonds with Shayde, who appears to be the actual new hold in a surprising twist for the new Carnage comics.

The last shot of the preview of the new Carnage comic features Carnage joining carefully around the detective. Carnage cruelly tells Shayde that the detective will “survive.” Sadly, we have a feeling that this survival isn’t going to be the biggest time for Shayde.

However, it seems that things are going to get even worse for Shayde. The synopsis for problem 2 mentions exactly how the bond between Cletus as well as Carnage was “unique even among symbiotes.” Then, it goes on to explain exactly how “Cletus’ codex has discovered a new home, leaving the Carnage symbiote adrift, alone… as well as deadlier than ever before!”

New Carnage Comic Flashback

Image: Marvel

In the extremely very first problem of the new Carnage comics, visitors saw a flashback of Cletus’ time as a youngster. even at such a young age, Carnage had bonded with Cletus as well as had dark intentions. The two of them work together to try as well as assist one more child. This private wished to murder some bullies living inside a juvenile detention center.

Everything appeared to be going as organized as well as both Cletus as well as Carnage were prepared to do the deed. However, the kid decided to modification his mind at the last minute as well as backed out of committing the murder. The flashback scene ends with Cletus as well as Carnage being confused about this unexpected modification of mind. We even saw a split-second of this deadly duo hesitating to kill the bullies before leaving.

Perhaps this moment of hesitation might be what ends up assisting Shayde in the future. It may be that Shayde might utilize his sense of justice as a detective to put Carnage on the right path. If so, it would be fascinating to see where things continue for this duo.

Kendrick Lim worked on the cover art, together with variations from Iban Coello, Jesus Aburtov, Gabriel Dell’Otto, Kyle Hotz, as well as Alex Gomes. You can get your hands on the new Carnage comic on April 27th.
